Howdy y'all :d
It's been a long time I know :faint:
Is there any way to keep the mfd on after changing the radio? Any wires to change?

Yep

Okay, thanks djwilde69 for trying to help me & Andy_Mk3 for supplying the answer.

I decided to come back on here & say how it all went. I haven't been here for several years!

I removed the cover off the bottom of the female ISO plug & located the grey/green wire & noted there were 2 of them going into the same pin end.

Then I tried for an hour using paper clips, hair clips & stuff, but try as I might the damn pin just wouldn't move so I just cut the wires, taped the ends up.

I can report that the Multi Function Display is now working with my aftermarket stereo.

Yay!!!!

I looked on YouTube & saw several videos on how you should take 2 paper clips but it just didn't work for me. There is a tool that is designed specifically for the removal of pins it looks like a 2 pronged thing but I'm glad I didn't fork out any $ as on YouTube some say it just bends and is useless as a proverbial thingymajig.

I found this image it might help others understand the process ...

Thanks again guys. :)

I just cut mine too. The chances of ever re-fitting a factory headunit is slim, but I think I left enough wire to resolder if need be.

I also disabled the dim feature, as even in daylight I tend to drive with sidelights on.

Can I ask what is the dim feature as the only dimmable thing I see is the dash when the headlights are on at night, you can slide the wheel to turn the brightness up or right down ...

The MFD dims when you put any lights on. It's not an adjustable thing, just brighter with no lights, dimmer with lights. If you only have lights on at night then you'd probably never notice...

I'm sure mine dimmed when I dimmed the dash lights as well? Can't check now that I've changed to LED's but pretty sure it was linked in with the dash?

No idea with that one. I've always kept that dial on full, never really seen the point of being able to dim the dash, not exactly dazzling.

But my issue was that it was dimming with sidelights during the daytime.

Yeah if you move the dial thing it dims the Dials and the MFD. Thats why i installed Daytimes so i didn't wear my dash bulbs out :p

For me, when I first started driving I found the dash to be dazzling at night as it was more in my field of vision than any other bike I've ever ridden so being able to dim was quite handy, got used to it quite quickly and now it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Yeah my dad always dims them in mine when he drives it, I always like it up full lol
