My estate lexie

Well not much to update. Took it up to a show in Ripon a few weeks back, then that night went out for a drink with friends and on the way to the pub he took me round some fun country roads, fun until i hit a pothole and caused a very bad knocking/cracking when steering. Nursed it back down home, parked it up and left it for a few weeks. Was also having problems with the brake pedal dropping. So last week, got her back out, took her to work for a couple of days and managed to get her on the mot ramp. Brake rollers showed a warped brake disc on n/sf and barely any effort on the front compared to the back.
Friday night went over to the wirral to grab a full black set of interior plastics and carpets from station on here and decent condition door seals. With the door seals fitted i have significantly less water getting in.
After the trip over to Wirral, i spotted drops of fluid in the brake dust on the o/sf wheel so both front wheels off i found the flexi's were weeping on the calipers. Nipped up and all good, no more brake pedal drop.
Then off out for a night with the bros

After this night out my knocking was getting significantly worse, so pulled her back off the road and took her to bits so i couldnt use her. two birds one stone as i had left the wiring a mess when i was last behind the dash.

So im getting rid of the MFD as its nothing but hassle and fitting my alarm along with all new SMD's in the dash, ordered 15 red 15 blue so have plenty of spares ;)

That's all folks

Love this car so glad I got to see it at billing

Just had a word at work. I get an hours lunch break where I sit in a corner, bored. They are letting me take the 2.2 in so I can start building it on my lunch breaks. Just need to get myself an engine stand.

Nice one! Better than sitting there falling asleep...

exactly. i hate wasting time. i have no choice but to waste an hour a day whilst everyone else gets to go home for their lunch. now i can do something constructive

I've always hated hour breaks, luckily most of the places I've worked at have been half hour, and even that sends me to sleep sometimes!

Aye. I've never had breaks at a workplace before lol never wanted them but get forced to take them

I know mate. Just didn't have space to do it as the shed is a sh**hole at the minute. Still need some pistons for it.

First of all though, im gonna build a nice bench out of pallets so I can lay all the engine bits out once its apart. Gonna sort the engine out this weekend, take it to work next Monday. Cant wait to get cracking now

Update:

Bulb delivery came from crazy leds.
15 x red 15 x blue
Overkill on the amount but at least i have spares now.
And also 5 x 15 meter rolls of loom tape

Last weekend i got properly stuck into it
Yet again had to get the huge puller on the steering wheel boss

and just to show the sheer size of this puller

With the boss off, i could get the dash out. Once that was out i was left with this mess

And the cause of this mess you may ask, erm me lol oh
few years back the headlights stopped working, bulbs fine, fuses fine etc etc so tore the dash loom apart looking for broken wires and nothing, ended up being a corroded terminal in the passenger side kick panel multi plug but yeh. Onto the other problems. I wired in the MFD in 2013, it was fine for some time. Now its flashing up everything it can because of a crap earth, also it doesnt work on the bike carbs so its going, along with all the crappy wiring

With that gone it was time to wire in the alarm and tidy up the loom. Ill let the pictures do the talking mostly

old broken aerial cable removed from the loom and all airbag wiring gone as no longer needed

and thats where the pictures stopped as im not wanting to publicly show where the alarm components are but with 2 sirens fitted its damn loud.
This saturday just gone. Started getting it all back together, i was going out in it at 7:30pm regardless so it had to be done. No pictures as it was a mad rush but i can report that all is well, the new alarm is a £25 ebay jobby but my god, the range on it is incredible, ive not yet found a distance it doesnt work from lol also the new leds are much better, no darkspots anywhere so very happy.

to be continued momentarily

Yesterday me and nick decided it was time we took the mk3's for a drive together. So, 2 2 litres, one redtop, one 8v. Country lanes and some nice scenic spots for pictures. My mate also joined us in his mk4 after we had finished driving round as his mk4 is a touch too low/slow for country lane photos.
I took 63 photos all together, i wont be posting them all lol

This was such a nice spot, this swan was posing too, got quite a few photos of him

Had a really good afternoon, was nice to finally get out in the two mk3's even if it is going to be the last chance this year.

In other news, the 2.2 is now at work, just waiting to get paid then will order a stand. Also been chatting to someone who has a set of pistons so fingers crossed on them.
That's all folks

I'm meant to mate but got a wedding the Friday in Milton Keynes and staying down there all weekend. Annoying as I wanted to see what I could roll with a couple of other bits on since last time. Especially since the engines being dropped out when I see a gritter on the local roads lol
