My phase 2 GSI

Well engines out Big blop of crap blocked pick up pipe and starved top of the engine. replacement will be in place tomorrow.
 
Night mare day engine I bought from mike not going to be any use although x20xev engine sump completely different to mine, and not able to swop over as pick up pipe different as well, could bodge but would need to re drill block to accept bigger pins too much hassle and not in my time scale. so frantic run up the m6 to buy the correct engine from woody-gsi so will get it fitted tomorrow

Started the engine refit at 9.30 fitted new cam belt kit and water pump as I had a new one on my old engine refitted gearbox got it all back in place and running by 1.30. Only to find EML light on lambda sensor plugged into wrong plug tried again light still on crank sensor fault so wiped the one out of my old engine and all sorted water system bled and outside school to pick up my brats from school.

just got a oil leek for rocker cover will which have to wait until i get back from weekend break with the wife.

Big thanks to members of club who helped out with sourcing engine.

The rocker cover leaks can be a pain on these!
 
glad to be of assistance. you do know the cam u just replaced was only done under 100 miles ago? that wasnt a selling tactic bro lol its on my diary the work ive done to the engine with pics etc..
 
Only changed it cause I had it changed the water pump at same time. The engine I bought of you is sweet running a lot better than the old one more power and lot smoother many thanks. Fixed the rocker gasket with a decent quality new gasket.
 
Well big thanks to Cemex Vented bonnet collected and fitted Matt black at the moment but will be repainted in future, Got some phase 1 GSI lights that have now been de tangoed a new water level sensor as mine was dead and the nut that holds the spare wheel in place.

Hopefully my stainless exhaust will arrive at work tomorrow will add some pics when I get chance to fit it.

Im not one for the black bonnet look... looks ok on your car though having said that as its a dark colour anyway. But, black bonnets always look like its a new bonnet been thrown on and not bothered painting it leaving it in primer. Only my opinion though.... depends what your into ;)
 
No all opinions welcome need a few other bits painting so will get it done at some point
 
Got a quote for painting complete front end bonnet, bumper both wings and a scab that ve noticed under the gsi badge on the passenger door Guy wants the car for four days £480 . What do people think of the price ???.

Ps how are the rubbing strips attatched to the doors and are they still available.
