Well I sold my beloved GSI in January and got myself a Vectra C 1.9 CDTI (120bhp) due to the mileage i do for work. Now doing 90miles a day in the GSI was adding up the mileage and with fuel going up it was getting silly. Currently getting nearly 700 mile a tank of diesel and it costs £20 more to fill so it well worth it. Since owning the Vectra ive done over 10k already :o It has not missed a beat once, its comfy, relaxing to drive, nippy and kind on my wallet. Its strange but a standard car has its own quirks, ive added a bluetooth car kit to play my ipod with and thats it! Im proud ive not done more

Am i missing the GSI? Yes for the looks and the performance

Am i still looking to get another mk3 in the future? currently no TBH :tape: coming out of the mk3 and reading the site more along with others its opened my eyes to show there is a hell of a lot more out there than them, more than vauxhalls infact

Id love a immaculate sport in white with XE in or a Estate with turbo etc but will it happen? i doubt it. There are 3 cars on this site im tempted to make a offer for but ive other things to buy first :heh: Also there is another addition to my fleet and im hoping it arrives within the month  so that will keep me busy.

I have a few rare ish parts ill be putting for sale in a few weeks so keep your eyes peeled.

Kev

I am currently looking into towing weights of the estate as if it can tow what im looking to get at the end of the year i might get one but if not i doubt ill get another. Its a shame that everyone does the same thing and there are no trend breakers anymore

I'm at 12 months (yes it's a year since the crash) and I miss mine, still have a garage full of parts,

However, I'm using a 1999 laguna 1.6 rt which isnt as refined and powerful, pretty uncomfortable to drive tbh.

I will be coming back to mk3 ownership and regret not buying the GSi Wayne had off scooby.

My plan is to install a zlet/leh in a ph2 GSi which is my favourite.

i did have a cheeky bid on Max's white one when it was on ebay as that would be ideal but went for more money than i had at the time

Thats why I keep my Vrs octavia pretty much standard, I had it lowered for a while then just thought why? I have the astra so why not have something standard for the comfort and long trips!

You can have the best of both worlds car for the weekends and a daily runner, and with the vrs it has 180 horses more than enough for a trip to the shop. Do you have season plates in the Uk??? Here in germany you can have a season plate for 6 months which is sweet, and now they want to have 1 number plate for up to 3 cars!!!!! And that means 1 insurance!

At first when i sold my first GSi i didnt miss it but then 5-6 months went by and being on here seeing peoples cars i started to miss it. I didnt want to rush into buying another and thought the 'missing' period would pass but just after a year it didnt. I dont think i did myself any favours because in that time i was still looking for mk3s that were for sale and then one popped up (mine i have now) and i was offered a good deal which was too good to turn down. It sounds stupid that you miss a type of car and have to get another one but i suppose it what you like, one day i will probably get bored of having one but its just making that step

been a while since i sold on my mk3 and i still miss it. I now have a Land Rover Defender 300tdi, Honda CR MotoX bike and my Yamaha WR supermoto... out of all of them i probably use the Supermoto the most, 100 miles to 7 squids of petrol.... yeah! The Landy is sweet to have also though as it is mega practical and the missus luvs it ;) Hope all you chaps are well.

well its been 8 months since i got rid of my 5 dr c20let astra project, im gutted that i got rid of it (being as i had no choice), Im now doing a FIAT PUNTO GT TURBO project, do i regret it? YES, although im a fully paid up member of the punto sporting web site, i never go on it as theres a lot of misserable tw*ts on there, thats why im always on this site as your all sounds lads/girls to get on with,

I would part with mine tomorrow given the chance the buy some thing else. I enjoy driving it still after nearly four years which is a bonus but it certainly isn't a car i would have purchased had i been able to afford what i wanted at the time.

I'm the oposite, I'd never get rid of mine and really enjoy driving MK3 Astra's in general as they have loads of character imo, I've driven a fair few newer cars, VW Golf V6 4motion (which claire's is all over when pedal goes to the metal), Vectra VXR (really quick but no real feel in it), Astra MK4, Astra MK5, Corsa B, Corsa C, Peugoet 307 CC, Corsa D and prob some more I['ve forgotten about, but everythime I'm driving another car I look forward to getting back behind the wheel of a MK3 Astra

Funny i was talking to someone about this tonight, he had a ls phase 1 1.4 and really really missed it. I wont get rid of mine till its dead, properly dead. I hope one day to be able to take it off the road and rebuild it from the shell up with a fully rebuilt aengine and shotblasted and dipped shell.

It's true what they say then................see My signature.

well if and when i get the A4 , you never know the pineapple might go . it goes well and is a great car to drive, maybe when my son is 21 i'll give it to him

I've had umpteen cars, my 1.4 SPi Astra is the best hands down, in so many ways, reliabilty, character, i like the looks, its noisy, midsed it like hell when i swapped to the Vectra
