Well thought I would start a diary.....
Me & Carly couldn't decide what to do in terms of our next car, I wanted something silly, like a Supra or Skyline with big power, but to be honest, that's not particularly practical at the minute, although Carly did approve.

Carly was thinking of getting rid of her TT, but wasn't sure what she wanted, she just knew it had to be practical and sporty.
We did a lot of reading, we went round lots of places, looked at so many different things.
Honda Civic Type R, Renault Megane, Merc A Series, Focus ST, Focus RS, Seat's...the list goes on.
I mentioned to Carly I had seen some sort of new Golf R or R32 in the local fuel station and it actually looked quite nice, so we went to VW but they only had base models
(it ****es me off that most dealerships only have base models in stock)!
We left it at that, and spent a good month or two mulling it over.
I suggested that if we could agree on a car, we buy one together by going halves.....
This means neither of us are skinting ourselves, and I can still have the odd retro thing myself outside of the business for them 'I need a retro day' days
I was off work ill, and Carly text me saying how about the Golf R....
We had looked at pics and thought we quite liked it, so arranged a test drive.
Both really liked it, but agreed we didn't want the blue, and we didn't like the original wheels.
We ordered a white 3dr, with the optional 19" 'Prets', in Manual, and even managed to get them to do the mirrors black (not currently a UK option)!
Only thing I am not sure on is the exhaust, would of preferred 2 large ovals rather than 4 but hey ho.
This is the same as what we have ordered.
That was quite a while ago now, and the car is ready, but we are not collecting the car until March 6th, because Carly will be a year older and that makes a fair difference to the insurance.
Also because it will be on a 2015 plate.
A few people have said, why a Golf, its 'just a Golf'
I kind of get that, never really been into Golf's.
But this new Golf R, is very different to the previous, and also the R32's before that.
Won a lot of awards, and has been very highly rated in pretty much every single review.
Autocar wrote, think of it not as a Golf, think of it as a completely different car, in fact one of the best Hot Hatches ever made, which VW put a Golf shell on top of, because that's what was convenient and what they had kicking about.
It is apparently a very very capable car A to B, Launches very well - Powerbox fitted DSG cars are getting 0-60 under 4 seconds consistently and Manuals around 4.5 seconds.
Also very tuneable, depending what route you take, seeing anything from 350bhp-380bhp from just a stage 1 remap!
Already bought a few things for the car:
Lots of detailing products
Black VW badges
Spare R badge for the grill to paint black
Black vehicle wrap vinyl
Wind Deflectors
I most certainly wont be doing any performance mods to the car because of warranty.
I don't have an induction kit on order, and I am not looking at de-cat and remap options.
We are hiring a Fiat 500 to drive to Swindon and go collect it, then bringing it home, straight into the garage and wont come back out for about a week
Thought I would share with you guys.
