Astra Convertible Cat-D...

really nice job you've done in the cabrio. really good ;)

keep us posted mate :P

So after a good 3 years of slowly deflating tyres, gaining mould on the roof and 3 unsuccessful attempts at selling it (even at £60 I got messed about!) I have decided to finish it in a half/ass lazy way, I'm going to try my hand at wrapping it, I've got the wrap, I have the weather so fingers crossed, hoping to start tomorrow so will update with pics etc!

was this the one I seen on ebay not long ago? nice to see u back on the forum

Who messed you about for £60!? I would of bitten your arm off!

fingers crossed for the wrap

Yeah I put it on twice but no takers and a scrapman offering to take it for free :der:

Two people actually, both oddly enough from the same area, so I don't know if it was the same guy pretending to be different people, but collection was arranged twice and no-one showed

fingers crossed for the wrap

Thanks, think I've got it all planned out, just the bonnet as the wrap isn't big enough to cover it all (have plans for the overlap on the sides) so not sure whether to get an Irmscher decal or something to cover it

It's an 'Apple Green' Wrap as I wanted to keep it the same colour due to logbook/legal issues, I'll get some pics up today as I'm off. Was meant to start on Wednesday but found myself buying a Turbo Mk4 Convertible instead, but more on that later...

So I'm going to start on the bonnet as it's nice and flat, as it stands at the moment....

I do have 2 GSi bonnets but thought I'd try it on this one first

So in between various other little things I've got on the go,

Had the tools required.....

Like the floral squeegee? :gayfight:

Decided to start on the bonnet as it was straight, first go didn't go so well so had to start again....

Messed up with the 2nd one, but was a vast improvement on the first, will need to invest in a bonnet bra to cover the errors at the front of the bonnet,

Put the other bit on the bonnet and went much smoother, apart from I didn't peel it quickly enough and the backing paper became too wet and ended up sticking to the wrap so spent about 10 minutes gently prising it off, but ogt there in the end....

You can see in the forgeround below why I need a bonnet bra....

Close up

Took the roof trim off in preparation for tomorrow

And found a little bit of rust, nothing too major though...

Opened the hood and despite sitting for nearly 5 years, she powered open nicely, not bad considering she's 17 with 128k on her, do need to see what diceboy did to clean the hood as mine is awful, though I do have a spare I can fit if it's too far gone...

Thinking of painting the handles, mirros and morrettes matt black and wrapping everything else, I know the colour is a bit hit or miss but meh

Picking up the Mk4 Turbo Convertible tomorrow morning :heh: which is actually fairly close to billing so may see if I can pop in

Did you use any heat on it mate?

No, for this particular wrap it didn't say to use it, I might redo the bonnet, or try a little bit of heat today on the bottom of the wing, see if it makes a difference

Just picked this up for the princely sum of £600...

T&T'd with only 91k, happy days

Good luck on the wrapping mate . You have choose the easiest bit to do. Get a hair dryer on the Creases and don't go to close with it should do the trick

Well I tried the bottom of the front wing today and was much more successful, I actually didn't follow the instructions as closely and it seems to have done the trick, though it is a much small piece so it probably helped, the top half is cut so we'll see how we get on....

Took the turbo out into the countryside today about 9pm, hood down, couldn't help but smile in it
