Debadging ... WHY?

I just dont understand debadging

is it some kind of badge of shame?

I know theres rivalry betwenn marques, and certainly when certain cars where out and about.

It HAD to have the GTI or TURBO or RS badge.



or now IMPRESSSA or WORKS or whatever

so the question

are the guys who debadge, ashamed or the make of the car they are drivng ?

I think people do it because it cleans up the looks, especially as with older cars the badges begin to go black or parts come off etc.... well I know that's why I took my rear ones off

nope, i did it just because i think it looks better. If I had a gsi, I'd still take the badges off

i own a gsi. and i am taking the badges off mine. a think as someone stated above it makes the car look a lot tidier and cluter free same as with removing the bump strips

Yep, took the badges off as it looks cleaner, although I do have a griffin badge to go on my Irmy rear spoiler

Mine was the original badge that came with the spoiler, but as it was tatty it got sprayed when the car did with a custom griffin vinyl on top

My Sport has had the ASTRA_2.0_16v badge (badly) removed from the tailgate by a previous owner.

as far as i no the only people who do debadge there cars are car enthusiasts, plus it does look better i think, i debaged mine and then after abit put opel badges on

I took mine off because ph1 badges were never much pretty to look at. If it had been the newer chrome writing id have kept it. Still got my Griffen though. Will never get rid of that.

i just took the chrome badges off mine because it looks smarter/smoother without them and if you look at old ones they fade dark anyway. i left the main vauxhall badge though i think that looks good. also i suppose if you have an astra thats had an engine conversion from 1.6 to 2.5 v6 lets say, then you might not want it to still say 1.6 on the back

I agree, it looks cleaner and less cluttered which is exactly the look I'm aiming for. Also, considering my car looks like a 5 door GSI with flashy wheels and some stainless steel on the exhaust I don't mind not advertising the diesel lump under the bonnet when she's parked up

I have a GSI phase 2 and have removed the Vauxhall and 2.00 16V written badges on the tailgate but i've left the round griffin and GSI 16v badge.

Purely peoples tastes.

my GTE looks like a stock 8v as the intercooler is hidden away then you boot it and bye bye haha

mine fell off but ph1 are ugly anyway. as above clutter free, and stops the cloth gettinng caught on it when its being polished, then having to go round it with a cotton bud
