My GSi project

The rear headrests are quite easy to do, you need to find the holes in the metal part of the seat underneath the foam inside.

You have to press down quite hard to feel where the holes are then pierce the fabric with a screwdriver or similar then cut a small cross so the fabric spreads enough to allow the plastic guides to slot it.

Then slide the guides into the seat and hammer them home and then slide the headrest in, job done

its harder on the ph1s though, as the seats that didn't have headrests originally dont have the metal guides, so they kinda flap about.. like mine!

Mine never had the headrests originally either but the holes are there, I thought all the rear seats had them regardless of the year ?

yours is a ph2 though so they're probably there ;)

Swapped insurance over this morning so now officially on the road

Heres a quick pic of the LET thats going to fitted as soon as I get bored of the ecotec

Replaced the rear discs and pads today as they where totally worn out, looked fine on the outside but on the inner they where well worn out. Had a funny rattling noise coming from the back too and found out that the pad material had actually separated from all four pads !! Will sort some pics soon.

I think I was right to change the rear discs and pads lol !

looking lovely.. didnt know the phase 2 had a different bonnet to a phase 1

Some very strange noise`s are coming from the front suspension so I suspect a broken spring or damaged top mounts so I`ve bought an Eibach pro spring kit which I should hopefully get chance to fit this weekend

Got a few bits done on the engine after work today fitted a pair of new camshaft oil seals and painted pulleys, Then a new cambelt/waterpump and tensioner.

Next on the list is to replace the rear crank oil seal, replace the sump gasket with the 8v bonded one and sort out the water pipes as the mk3 is a different layout to when the engine was in the mk2.

Some pics:

new cam seals and fresh silver pulleys:

Fitted my quickshift kit and mk3 rear mount to the gearbox whilst I was at it. Quick shift has nylon pivot bushes and the linkage has been shimmed up to remove any slop and play so its nice and tight.
