Been doing a bit on the engine over the weekend, got the gearbox off and took the clutch and flywheel off to discover I was right about the rear crank seal leaking !

Nice and oily lol

Finally gave the sump a good clean and fitted a new oil seal to the level sensor as it was also leaking from there.

Offer still stands too ;)

looking good so far pal,

how did you get the box that clean mate as im going to get mine the weekend and damm it loks sweet lke that.

one more question, any chance you know what linkage i got to use, not sure if its f20, f28 or abit of both lol

top work though pal

Was planning on getting all the bottom end back together this weekend but best laid plans never go right

Turned out I have bought the wrong bigend bearing shells so that ment I couldnt fit them, the ARPs, 8v sump baffle/gasket and the oil pickup pipe.

Have managed to fit the rear crank oil seal and reseal the bearing cap so thats one job out of the way.

Decided to do the job properly with the clutch so instead of using a flat flywheel and F20/F28 hybrid clutch a lightened billet steel pot type flywheel is on its way along with an uprated clutch.

Cheers bud :d

I soaked the box in traffic film remover for a bit then steamed cleaned it first to get rid of all the grease then sprayed it with hammerite smooth silver.

The linkage on mine is an F20 quickshift that Ive had modify to make it fit properly, You need the main pivot arm and link bar off the F20 and the short bit from the F28 to join the box to the F20 bits.

Time for a little update, got my new lightweight billet steel pot flywheel yesterday

Weighs about 5 kgs which is lighter than a standard flat one ! Now I can use the proper turbo clutch setup and that should be here this week fingers crossed.

Glyco bigend bearing shells, these are the wider type LET ones as I had mistakingly bought XE ones which are thinner so would of been no good to me.

Oil cooler bits, I had bought these to fit to the gte but never got round to doing it, going to fit the cooler behind the bumper like in the pic so will be losing the foglights and using the hole to make a proper duct for it.

Mocal 16 row 115mm matrix cooler and late type sandwich plate

And a large intercooler, 2.5" inlet and outlets.

Using these to stick the sump gasket and seal the flywheel/sump bolts up.

More soon

Yeh with the ammount of work involved changing the clutch with an F28 I`d be daft not to do it right the first time round !
