If i remember correctly the ECU programming option wasn't enabled on mine....

I had the Airbag light come on and that stuck on, Bought a similar module and it went off.

Didn't the vectra, Zafira A have the same X16xel setup for similar parts?

If you're back on your original ecu you'll not need to programme anything. It's should still be working. You should be able to use the live streaming data readout and have a look.and see if there's anything obvious there. Sometimes the answer is within those readings without even realising it. I had a poor running issue with a Vectra C a couple of years back. Long story short no codes and tried everything. I was at the "staring blankly at the screen" stage. I was aimlessly scrolling through the data readings when something caught my eye. A few mathematical calculations later and I'd nailed it.....

Yes I was just trying it out, charging the battery etc before trying the fleabag ecu again. Live streaming data sounds useful if it may show a problem. Will have another go later.

Failing that, if you can get hold of a copy of TIS you can follow the checking procedures right through. That way you'll get a definitive diagnosis.
Just a thought. P0230 refers to the primary circuit. It's the one from the ECU that switches the relay on and off. Double check that when you turn the ignition on before starting the engine the fuel pump primes for 2 seconds then switches off. If I remember correctly it'll be a switched earth from the ecu so it would indicate a problem on that circuit if with the switching if it runs and stays on. Could be something like a short to ground somewhere bypassing the ECU switching and showing as a high voltage.

It's frustrating as the car runs fine. I can clear the P0230 with OPCOM. With ignition on without starting the fuel system primes briefly ok without it returning. As soon as the engine is actually started it pops up again. "Fuel Pump Relay Voltage High" appears even though the measuring block for the Fuel Pump Relay is 0V.
Before when I tried the fleabay ecu it primed the fuel system but when started ran only for a brief second. The P1503 Immobilzer dtc appeared - with the EWL flashing continuously, but no P0230.
Other dtcs I've created while poking around have all cleared ok.

That's odd. You'd think if it was the ECU it would stay there all the time. Engine running or not. Yet, when the engine is running it's registering 0volts so it's odd that it's throwing up a code for a high voltage when it isn't which would make you think its th ECU. Very strange....
Do you have TIS??

No don't have TIS, sounds intriguing though. Any new ideas are welcome.
Looking at the wiring diagram I'm wondering if something else connected with the fuel pump relay secondary circuit upsets the ecu when in engine running mode.
The Secondary Air Injector pump appears to operate correctly without affecting anything. The fuel tank vent valve was recently replaced.

It seems to go in a full circle from ECU K69 terminal 54, down through the primary circuit of the secondary air injection pump relay K12, then carries on back to K69 terminal 56 but also has the secondary air injection pump solenoid Y15 connected in parallel to the relay circuit....
I half expected it just to be a straight through primary and secondary circuit. It must be some sort of feedback circuit.

And I've just realised I'm talking crap.....lol. The page flapped back and i never noticed. I've just spent the last half hour staring at track 1290 And 1291 not 1090 and 1091......I need my bloody glasses on.....lol...

Thanks for taking the time Cliff do appreciate it, yes I've been tying myself in knots with those wiring diagrams for weeks. Because they cover all the different engine types it's easy to get on the wrong page. I’ve been trying to think of a possible cause but I think it is just a random internal fault.
And at last some progress! Last night I had another go to see if having the security code may help with the s/h ebay ecu. I managed to cross plug from the original leaving it buried up in its footwell pouch. As before the EWL was flashing with no starting possible. Using Opcom I found this time I was unable to access the immobilizer ecu at all. It just hung. I then had a go looking at the engine ecu. Going through the various options I then noticed a different dtc pop up. This time the P0230 was (2) - Fuel Pump Relay Voltage Low. Frustratingly I’m afraid I can’t be sure exactly what I did but after clearing it I tried various other Opcom options and found I could then start it. Even better found the warning light was out!
The Programming button was still shaded on the main Opcom ecu options page, but I think it was the Special Functions option and Reprogram Immobiliser Function that did it.
I’m going to now try to carefully put it all back together and book the MOT as soon as possible. I’m not holding my breath as I wish I knew exactly why it’s decided to work. It still has all the (German) donor car VIN details but I don’t want to fiddle with Opcom again until it’s safely back on the road.

Aww superb!!! Nice one. Fingers crossed that's the last you've seen of that pesky light. Get it motd pronto. As long as it stays off for the test you're on to a winner. I wouldn't bin the old ECU just yet. Do you know anyone who's good with electronics? I had a MK4 Astra X16SZR and it started the usual problem, turns over for ever and won't start, then randomly burst in to life. Turns out it was a duff resistor and my neighbour being an electronics expert, managed to track the fault down and repair it. The car lasted tens of thousands of miles after that with numerous new owners.....till one kicked the crap out of it in 4th, missed 5th and rammed it in to 3rd instead and dumped the clutch.....oops.....

Got most of it back as it should be now. Just a bit of trim to refit. Still behaving at the moment. Yes I'll keep the orig ecu as it runs fine. I did have a look inside but I wouldn't know where to start. I'll book the MOT first thing Monday. It seems so apt - all the fireworks going off tonight, though I won't relax till I know I can get at least another 12 months motoring lined up for it.

Just a little thing but I can watch this 1000 times.

Lol.....I know what you mean. It's immensely satisfying fixing a problem like that and trying It once it's fixed....lol.
I bet you're glad it's finished now.....

Superb new like, When i had the air bag one, i was waiting for the day it appeared again... and it never did.... you'll start to forget about it lol

Sorted.
Typically on the way to the mot the a front indicator decided to make a bid for freedom. Stuffed it back in where luckily it stayed in long enough. It eventually disintegrated and is now gluing on the bench. Also found the rear badge fell off last night too which wasn't a great omen. Silicon RTV to the rescue again. Sitting for two and a half months seems to have taken it's toll. I treated the oil filler cap to a new O ring as it was rattling loose and did a neat pop rivet repair to the fuse box cover. Just the boot light and aerial to fix and it will be like new, though of course I'll never get round to doing the aerial.

Well done ! I've not done anymore to mine, as the garage it's in , took on a hellava lean:o and needed straightening before any winter gales . Sods law , I'm skint and a brand new x16xel engine pops up on ebay last night too !Just 150 or offer ! Miles away though, in Walsall .

Yeah, I know that feeling with the leaning garage. That storm a few weeks back killed mine. Currently in the middle of building a new brick one. Let's see the storm huff, and puff, and blow the place down this time........
