Andy's Saab Turbo Sport

it really is incredible you made it mate, that story is character building to say the least!
You were well worthy of your trophy buddy!

Andy did you put anything on the crossmemeber to stop the oil cooler pipes rubbing as they look close?

Also what did you paint the engine bits with? Your engine cover was done with cans years ago wasnt it?

For a quick clean looks brilliant after 2 years lol Nice work!

Cheers lol. F28 with Quaife ATB, and the manifold is SAS Customs :)
Nice! I'm just back from holiday so next on the list is I'm going to try packing out the spring with washers for the pressure relief valve to see if I can get oil pressure. I've read that it's been tried and tested and worked so hopefully I'll be back on the rd. Defo going to look into that manifold :thumb:

No mate, they are quite close and I probably will get the bumper back off to sort them a little better. Engine itself was painted by hand with engine enamel, the rast was sprayed in 2k, straight silver and satin black. Rocker cover was done a few years back with halfords rattle cans, I'll 2k it eventually :)

It needs a proper good day spending on it, will do that before retro rides ;)

Never heard of that one before  My oil pressure is amazing since the rebuild, probably gained over a bar of pressure when hot!

Just park it next to mine will make yours look so much better I doubt I will get any time to touch it  I think I am going to paint my spare cover to match parts of the car but will see how the wrinkle cover comes out

Apparently the spring goes weak resulting in loss of oil pressure, 1-4 washers behind it firming it up again rebuilds the pressure "apparently" I've tried everything else. One last shot before I either buy a running car and go for 3 times a charm or just give up and sell the lot.

Interesting, never heard of that at all! Do you have an oil pressure gauge?

Yes, I'm using a friend's. No pressure when hot and very little when cold. Adding one washer at a time should gradually increase pressure. One at first. Check pressure hot and cold then the 2nd etc until your pressure is where it needs to be.

Wow, good effort there pal! I knew you were putting a lot of effort in and cutting it fine but with the "little issues" you came up against you did well to get to vboa!

Pah! If you’re not still rebuilding it the night before you’re due to leave... you’re not trying hard enough. ;)

But seriously though, good job getting it from nearly a bare shell, to show ready (and award winning) in such little time. I’d of given up and rented a car if I had that much to do in time.
One of my favourite mk3s on here fo’ sho’. :)

Well I do hope it improves things for you mate!

Thanks Leon, and yes it was pushing me to breaking point, mentally and physically!

Every year until now I've had everything ready to go the night before, I literally have the Friday to put everything in the car and go.. this year was quite different

Thank you for the kind words though :)

Just been having a browse I'm pleased the cylinder head was in good shape for you. I didn't even notice it was ported and polish.. hope you keep on top of the car now it's a lovely motor. Roll on vboa this year

Some great work being done on this which I've been missing! Will have to keep myself updated lol :thumb:

Hi all, I can't believe how long it's been since I updated this! Not really a lot to report currently. The car is still with me, currently off the road as we've been saving up for moving house etc so the mk3 has been put on hold for a while. Hopefully have it back on the road next year as I do miss it.

I have just noticed it was exactly 10 years ago today I bought this car. It's been a big part of my life and I certainly hope to have it another 10 years! Been going through some old paperwork and found the receipt the old guy I bought it from wrote out :)
