Ah f**k. Outer sill will be an easy fix.

But that inner sill is whoored, but I came up with a plan....

That involved this.

Then this....

Some 'careful' cutting.

Have started picking one apart to this point.

Much better. Will finish picking this apart soon. Then crack out the welder.

No point with half measures lol.

Right about the donor car Andy. Wasn't that bad of a shell. So it was perfect for my needs.

I will be trimming these bits up some more for the portions I need.

I'll make a start on the welding when I've finished my other Astra. Plus i'm looking for a unit to put in in for when I want to start working on it.

Well I suck at updates.

It basically sat for a while.

Really wasn't happy as it was in a back garden. At the time, I lacked skill to sort it and money. Tried for a long time to find a workspace for it.

But when I could, I did buy something important....

A new GM inner sill. It's an Estate one, not that that'll matter as I'll make it work!

Plus by some sheer miracle, I kept this inner arch tub too. Had ment this for a old Astra Cesaro from years back.

After a period of waiting. I've finally sorted a small single car garage.

This doesn't mean there will be progress, yet!

It's not an easy task (well to me!) to whack out an entire inner sill and replace it. Yes it involve growing a pair and getting on with it.

In the mean time, I'm looking for other panels and South African parts to help with the resto. Someday it'll make a VBOA show. Just dunno when!

Worthy of a thread bump, after nearly three years?

Maybe, maybe not?

I still have the car! Seven years just about. It's longest time I've owned a car!

Anyway, left this thread at me getting a work space sorted. That didn't work out. It sat another year untouched. Moved twice after that, to the space i'm currently now. First two were miles way. Now my current space is now only a couple of miles from home (much easier!).

This is it sat next to my other project, a 306 Rallye. Which I got back on the road just about two weeks ago.

That now means, I can switch my focus onto the Opel.

Up onto some stands first.

Still looks frightening. The spell outside didn't help. Not panicking (yet!) as I was planning to unpick the inner sill out, fix the membrane and fit a whole new outer sill anyway.

Plan is for the short term, fix both sills. As I would like to put the shell on a spit and attack the underneath. Having the sills sorted, might stop the thing bending in ways I don't want it too.

Have ordered up some box section to brace the shell, before I get too carried away cutting.

Hopefully, the next update should be some actual progress made.

I was looking into importing a 200TS last week but decided at the last minute to pay the money off my mortgage instead lol

Good to see its alive still and your cracking on.
