Nige's Reiger Astra with Saab Power

Nice one nige. Be watching your spare engine for more updates. I'm thinking the same about getting a spare and doling the removal too.

I'm still to sort out my td04 upgrade yet!

the new engine was really a spare incase anything happened with the other one, but the one in the car has a oil leak on the head gasket it looses barely a quarter of a litre in 3 months but just looks horrible dripping down the front of the block so the one im building now will go in so that one can come out to be rebuilt, the new one is also a bit of a test to try some other bits , ie balance chain and volvo springs if i decide to go for the bigger turbo

the volvo springs allow for 7500RPM with nothing else done and if i put solid lifters i can have a fair bit more but dought i will go over 7k anyway, some of the guys are reving to 9k over in europe with standard bottom ends which is nuts

new engine will also possibly get new turbo just need to decide which one???

good work mate

As per the call looking good

will other fuel rails fit the b204 as im not a fan of the saab push on connectors ???

everything looks so super engineered compaered to the c20let

its a well engineered lump every ancillary and mount is ally to reduce weight, still a heavy lump once together

will other fuel rails fit the b204 as im not a fan of the saab push on connectors ???

im not sure on any other rails fitting, the push on connectors to rail i removed and just used the vaux pipe and hose clips

ok well a proper update to come soon but a quick one, had another trackday yesterday at oulton park went with a friend, he took his 2007 carrera 4S really good day very wet in the morning and every one was really struggling as lots of people using semi slicks and i had my road tyres on, i was running rings around everything, by about 11ish i had done 60 miles and went out for another run before lunch.

did my warm up lap slowly building up the speed and brakes then came down the main straight came round old hall and got signaled to overtake a bmw 325, overtook then there is a lip as you come down the avenue hill the car went light and the back end stepped out was doing 90ish i went to correct and didnt quite catch it quick enough so the car ended up sideways down the track ended up on the grass sideways and then back on to the track as i started to get it straight got straight and pulled toward the marshall post and the gap off the track pulled off spoke to the marshall and gave the car a quick check no major damage and drove it back to the pits, for a full examination and check over.

the damage was minor but has pushed me to do the changes i was planning so the car will have a bit done over the next month or so, front bumper all mounts smashed and paint damage to the bumper where it was forced against the wings, cracked the rear bumper along the bottom and pulled a side skirt off where it had been previously repaired

i took the car out to the nearest petrol station at lunch to check the tracking and for any other issues and all seemed good had some lunch and then headed back out again in the afternoon for a test session did about 6 laps then came back in checked everything and i was happy, so went out and did a load more laps in the afternoon total mileage on track fro the day was 113miles with about £60 of fuel,

then drove the car home ready to go into work tommorow to clean it all off so more photos to follow tommorrow

early morning fueling
