It really does unfortunately

Great to see an update and welding done though! I'm dreading trying to find somebody to weld my mk3 up
Yeah it does for me a lot, most of my time just now is spent at work so don't get much time for projects.

Yeah its getting hard to find proper welders these days, even people body shops were telling me to speak to weren't interested in doing it, felt like I was going in circles phoning places, getting somebody else's number from them, phoning them and getting told they don't do it any more, rinse and repeat.

Yeah I'm gonna use it next week for work, put some miles on it and see what falls off

Really happy to see this back on the road

Wow I always say ill update this more often then proceed to not update it more often. I tend not to post on the Facebook as i'd like to try and keep forums alive as long as humanly possible so here goes:

I had been using the astra on a semi regular basis for the past 8 months, its driven pretty much excellently up until I came back from Florida and had been awake for 30 hours straight and my daily driver insignia was lying broken down in the driveway from the day before I went to Florida. Long story short we landed and I used the Astra to take my partner home about 20 miles away. Dropped her off home and was heading home myself when I pulled away from a roundabout and into 2nd and my clutch pedal didn't return to its depressed position. So 30 hours awake and this was me for the next 2 hours

Stuck by the side of the M8 slip road just outside of Glasgow in a mickey mouse t shirt and a pair of shorts. 2 hours later a recovery truck arrived

and soon after that I was dropped off at my parents drive as mine is too steep to get the recovery truck in

So it turns out the clutch cable had snapped, not a massive deal eh. Simply ordered a new one online which arrived a few days later and it turned out to be about 6 inches too short. Not a problem ill just order another one thats longer, a few days later that one arrives and its the correct length but has the wrong fitting that connects to the pedal. 3rd time lucky eh, nope next one that arrived was both too short and had the wrong fitting so basically it took 6 attempts from various online and local motor factors to get it right, turns out the one that fits a 1997 arctic 16v with a c25xe is actually from a 1994 diesel astra van , whoda thunk it.

Now the astra drives again its time to MOT since its been lying for a while and ive mainly been using the motorbike. On Friday the 13th of October I took it for an MOT:

Well that could've gone better. So that's where I stand at the moment, I promise ill update this more often with progress or lack of

Oh I also ended up with a set of these
20231013_150012.jpg

Adjustable top mounts. Now hopefully someone can verify these as the ones we had a group buy for years ago, you know the ones that caused me sleepless nights and received death threats for because PayPal locked my account because they thought mk3oc were laundering money due to the sudden influx of cash received and people assumed I was scamming them, is it these top mounts? If it is I paid less than a tenner for them after a win on Ebay and after all the hassle they caused me i'm probably never gonna use them anyway.

I'll be back

Id gues after all these year's you'll be getting it fixed and back on the road

More to come in the coming weeks and months

So I havent driven this since it passed its MOT, this is mainly due to time and the convenience of the insignia being comfy and given my commute is over some proper **** roads this just makes sense.
But I decided to give it a bit of a clean last week and found the passenger side carpet to he soaking wet so on with the investigating

So it's been coming in from behind the scuttle panel so I've stripped it all out, all the carpet and foam sound deadening is currently in my bath tub drying out.
Also whilst it was all apart I treated it to a new pollen filter

As you can see the old one is a bit done

Will keep updated with drying out progress
