white mk3 estate GSI

Looking well, what pain type did you use (acrylic, cellulose, 2 pack etc?)

I am not looking forward to doing under the car either

Looking good that.
I did underneath my estate last year. From the back seats back is a complete pain to do, it held me back so much as I simply couldn't stand doing it. Best of luck with it

thanks, not sure what i'm going to do yet as i use gravity fed gun may just need to fill the cup right up.
i'm ok with cleaning doesn't bother me to much. Get comfortable, bit of music and something to stimulate your mind

Getting comfortable wasn't an option lol I was outside in the freezing cold and dark doing it most of the time lol

Are you taking it right back to bare metal?

in places of interest yeah, its pretty good underneath really to be honest so etch, stonechip then paint, need to keep telling myself this is going to be my daily

update, cleaning sanding and painting mostly.

Vauxhall/Saab subframe comparison, one is steel the other alloy. the Saab one being the primered one with the extra triangulation and exhaust brackets.

frame and arms in Etch.

solid 2K jet black.

did this at the same time.

didn't want to damage the polys trying to get them out so carefully masked them.

left this in vinegar for about a week! came up well.

onto the rear beam.

me next project once the astra is finished.

rear ARB getting some.

redoing my struts as well so they match the black i've used on the rest of the car.

beam half prepped, and rear hubs.

all in Etch.

i forgot to take pictures of the rear hubs, they are now shiney silver anyway.

just waiting a couple of days for paint to harden fully before i reassemble the beam now takes a while in this weather. next is prep under car and paint.

Didn't you want to cover it in sealer first if the stones chip the paint?

Bloody good work

oh i it has taken many many hours, i do quite enjoy it though find it really satisfying problem is once you clean one thing, you have to clean the other or there was no point in cleaning the first thing haha

cut these off few months back as they were hammered and went about repairing them.

flattened them out

and back on.

i then started with the horrible job of stripping the stonechip and seam sealer from underneath. treating any surface rust with Jelonite rust remover, and Etching any bare metal.

I used a copper wire wheel on a grinder and one on a drill to gain access to any tricky hard to get at places, the stuff comes off in huge cobwebs and goes every were as well as pieces of copper wire firing into your skin and clothes.

Im not sure how many hours i've spent underneath sofar as i've been doing sections at a time over a week maybe for a couple of hours a time before white finger sets in off the grinder.

Nice work :) I need to cut those bits off on mine and sort them out seems it's been jacked on them before

vauxhall completely missing the seam from factory

and again, poor

first hole found

x2 rear arched needed,

some jesus juice

and thats were i'm at, waiting for two new rear arches to arrive now before i can crack on with the inner wings and i've ran out off copper wire wheels been through 6 so far.

How difficult were they to cut off? Could do with doing mine when I get back under it

the panel spans the whole length of the car with x amount of spot welds, so i opted to carefully remove what i needed which was fairly easy, if i had a battery grinder i would have gone to the local scrapyard and cut some decent ones off another car.
