Ians 5dr Astra Turbo

Update:

Glued the mirror foot back on yesterday, so refitted the mirror then redrilled the holes to mount the illuminated sunvisors better then fitted the black sunglasses holder ive had for ages:

Went out in it this aft and the eml came on  it was also running lumpy and the idle was a bit erratic and theres now a whistling sound aswell as chatter from the filter. Fault code is 114 ''boost pressure idle above upper limit'', actuators only on 2 turns of pre-load and it wasn't hitting boost cut before the eml came on so not sure wtf's going on now but it's starting to pee me off!!..

Saab or cabby I'm guessing

Update:

Vac'd it out today and then cracked on looking for the reason for the 114 fault code. Checked all the vac lines in the bay and then removed the o/s sill/footwell trim to access the ecu. Now there should be a ''U'' shaped pipe that connect's to the ecu from the plastic vac line that come from the throttle body in the bay, now i miss placed this a while back and replaced it with silicon vac hose and it was this bit that had kinked not letting enough vacuum into the ecu. Searched around and found some rubber hose that would fit and was flexible enough to curve round:

Once id put the trim back on i disconnected the battery for 2 mins, reconnected it then fired her up and bonza ran spot on idle spot on job done. Took it for a run and was spot on apart from still hitting boost cut as its still over boosting a little, it's hitting 1 bar of boost on full chat with only 2 turns of pre-load on the actuator. I think im just gonna get some evo5 chips, some vxr injectors and either a fresh full intercooler kit or a least some fresh hard pipe boost pipes as mine are a bit mixed n matched so not sure they would cope with the extra boost. Hopefully i can get all this lot in n set up on a r.r before pvs..

Had no idea LETs ran a vac pipe right up to the ECU, how odd! I really don't know LETs at all

Glad you fixed that issue though. And I like your thinking, if it doesn't work, upgrade it

Yer it uses that to operate the amal valve and control the boost..

Im board of std power now anyway..

Note the little copper pipe

Ian il have to pop over again so you can take me out in it

Update:

Gave the old girl a good wash today:

Also cleaned all the windows, and gave the dash a good clean n shine.

Then after race three of the btcc i decided to remove the rear lamps and clean behind them:

Also gave the tail gate shut, the inside of the tailgate, all the door shuts and the insides of the doors a good clean, need to do the engine bay next, not long till pvs..

Update:

Been chasing boost issues all last week and got to the point where it's drivable with only slight boost cut flat out in 5/6th gear with the actuator set to sod all pre-load when the boost is constant and above 0.5 bar.

So fast forward to taday and ive spent some time with my 2 oldest kids today. On the way back down the back lanes i handed a corsa vxr and an octavia vrs there arses in one sitting so was very proud of my humble little let. Now thats as good as it gets as when i was cruising back on the m62 i was overtaking in the outside lane when a b**ch in an x5 came flying down behind me at warp speed and fearing she was just going to run straight into me i dropped it into 4th to get out of the way or i thought i had, but it actually went into 2nd!!. Revs were bouncy off the limiter like a cold turkeying smack rat and imediately sounded like a scooby and was producing sod all boost, so nursed it home the last few miles and parked it up. Was proper spewing over this but started to pull it to bit's to check it all out. Timing's all still spot on so the belt hasn't jumped but it didn't feel right when i was winding it round to the timing marks. Pulled the plugs out and they seem fine so hopefully the pistons are still all good, i 'm borrowing a compression tester on monday but i'm fairly sure ive bent some valves.
